Healthy & Happy Child Pilot Project
Rotary club of Abad North launched its pilot project Healthy & Happy child at Ognaj urban health center. Ognaj .today on 11 th oct 2008 at 10 am.Grand inaugural function was presided by Rtn President,Mr S. Pareekh,Secy Mr Subramaniam, Project coordinator Dr Prakash Vaishnav,& MO Dr Shama Gandhi.Function started with prayer sung by staff nurses, f ollowed by floral welcome of dignitaries in presence of big gathering of about 150 mothers and children .Brief programme outline was given by Dr Prakash Vaishnav which followed by health awareness speech by Dr Shama Gandhi. Mr President was also delighted to see mothers and children and shared his views.

Children of 0 to 6 years were initially screened by health staff nurses and their physical parameters were registered in a format. Then each child was medically screened and were given marks by panel of doctors consisting of Dr P.Vaishnav & Dr S. Gandhi. Those children needing vaccinations were given vaccines on the spot.81 children were examined and were graded in nutritional group I,II,III,IV .In all groups of 0-1,1-3,3-6 yrs three rankers were selected . 1st,2nd.3rd healthy child were given prizes by Presidenrt, secretary and MO.

Mothers of group III,& IV were counseled by Rtn DR Prakash vaishnav aout nutrition. They were given nutrition guidelines in Gujarati., medicines and prescription for further improvement. All were advised to return for follow up visit after about 2 months during next date to be finalized. All children were given free Parle gluco biscuit packet individually.. Pure and safe drinking water was provided for parents and children. Programme ended with prize distribution to all winner child and with vote of thanks.

Rotarians who have missed seeing smiling faces of little kids shall have to wait for next follow up date.
